Zhou Huiming was born in Shanghai in 1954. Driven by his patriotism, he joined the army in 1971 after graduating from junior middle high school. He worked as a mechanic in an industrial equipment factory after being demobilized in 1975. With his growing passion for painting, he decided to study painting himself after several unsleeping nights. Unfortunately, his first wife left him in 1987, his second wife left him in 1992, and he seems to be a loser in his two marriages.
One piece of his works joined Biannual Exposition for Chinese Oil Painting held in Beijing in 1993; one piece of his works joined the exposition Invisible Existence held by Shanghai University and Miqiu Studio in 1997; four pieces of his works joined Contemporary Artistic Exchange among Hong Kong, Taipei and Shanghai in 1998, which Li Shan, Sun Liang and Shen Fan also participated in. He suffered schiz in Oct 1998, and created no more works until 2006, during that period, he focused on reading.
Fortunately, his inspiration reappeared in 2006, and he could not live without his paint brush again. Planned by Shanghai Theatrical Institute, Chinese Contemporary Artistic Series--Zhou Huiming’s Subconscious Sketch was published by Shanghai University Press in Aug 2009, and Mr. Zhou signed his book himself in Shanghai Exposition Hall on 13th Aug, 2009.
